SEAN PARRY -- Materials, Economics and Management -- Oxford -- St Edmund Hall

Why college and subject choice?
I chose MEM at Oxford because it is one of only a few courses at Oxbridge that allows you to study both Science and Economics as a joint-honours degree. I was keen to continue studying both these subjects, and at the time hoped to work in venture capital, where I could use both my scientific and business knowledge. My decision to apply to Teddy Hall was based primarily on an Open Day I attended. I am also a very keen sportsman, and the college’s sporty reputation also appealed.

Career Aspirations
Following various internships in finance, I decided that starting work in investment banking would give me a good introduction to the business world. I joined Morgan Stanley after graduating, working on the Japanese Equities desk. After a few years at the firm, I changed direction and now run my own businesses as well as advising a number of other start-ups.
